Certainly one of the most famous painting of the world, "The Kiss" from Gustav Klimt is from 1907-1908, during the "golden phase" of the artist who studied the effects of light over gold from his trips to Venice and Ravenna, both famous for their beautiful mosaics, sometimes featuring gold leaf tessels.
