Gold leaf can also be used to embelish fabrics as for this traditional Indian Painted Cloth (Pichwai). Dated from late 18th–early 19th century and  depicting the Celebration of the Festival of Cows it's made with painted and printed gold and silver leaf, opaque watercolor on indigo-dyed cotton.
