Yeesookyung, 'Translated Vase', 2009
Ceramic shards, epoxy, 24k gold leaf, 24k gold powder
63 4/5 × 36 1/5 × 37 2/5 in
162 × 92 × 95 cm
Each edge of the artpiece is secured with epoxy and lined with 24-karat gold leaf. This network of gilded lines outlines where connections were drawn in the porcelain and also functions as a linguistic reference, as the Korean word "geum" means both "gold" and "cracks".
